How to Stop Mosquito Bite Itching

Mosquito bites are an irritating part of spending time in the outdoors, but luckily, there are several household remedies that can provide relief from the itching. Here are the top 10 best remedies.

1. Lemon juice reduces swelling and prevents scratching bites. Use a cotton swab to apply lemon juice to the affected area.

2. Epsom salt can be very effective. Mix two tablespoons of Epsom salt in a cup of cold water. Soak a cotton washcloth in it and apply it to the affected area.

3. Toothpaste, especially the peppermint variety also relieves itching. You can apply it to the affected area several times a day.

4. When you have more than one bite, baking soda could do the trick. Use one third baking soda and two thirds water. If you have many bites, you can soak in a bath tub with baking soda for half an hour.

5. Garlic is also effective for relieving mosquito bites. Leave freshly cut garlic on bit for about half an hour and then reapply later in the day.

6. Honey can soothe the skin with its anti-inflammatory powers. You can mix it using one third water and then apply it to the bite using a Q-tip.

7. Tea bags are another remedy. Wait for the tea to be about room temperature and apply the bag to the affected area for about half an hour.

8. To stop the itching instantly, apply a small amount of liquid ammonia to the bite using a Q-tip.

9. Milk can also be soothing for bites. Mix equal parts water and skim milk at room temperature, dip a cloth in it and apply it to the bites.

10. Ice cubes can be wrapped in a washcloth and applied to the bites to relieve itching temporarily.
