Kava Kava for Anxiety Reduction
The Kava kava plant is useful for helping to slow down your mind when it is racing, and reduce your anxiety throughout the day. Kava kava is native to the Polynesian islands where it has been used for centuries to calm people down.
The medicinal part is found in the root of the plant. It is also used as an intoxicant and a substitute for alcohol. While it does not cause a hangover, pregnant women and those with liver problems are advised not to take it. It also should not be combined with alcohol.
Kava kava is also used to treat back pain, insomnia and hyperactive children. It makes people very calm for prolonged periods of time. It relaxes the muscles and gives you a feeling of well-being. It also helps to improve concentration and even works as an aphrodisiac.
Kava kava can be a great way to calm down in just about any stressful situation, however there can be some side effects. Potential side effects include drowsiness, headache, indigestion, rashes, or interaction with certain drugs. Large amounts of kava could have more serious consequences. It is always best to consult with a healthcare provider before trying anything new.
