Lactobaccillus Plantarum Probiotics to Fight Yeast Infections

Thursday, December 10, 2009

Probiotics can help to cure yeast infections. In particular Lactobacillus Plantarum is effective at fighting yeast infections.

This probiotic is common in fermented foods, anaerobic plant matter and saliva. The many benefits of this probiotic are still being studied at Lund University in Sweden.

Lactobacillus Plantarum is a very beneficial bacteria that can live in your stomach for a very long time. It reduces infections by preventing the entry of microorganisms that cause disease and also prevents them from growing. It also helps the colon by preventing bacteria from attacking the intestinal lining.

Often the use of antibiotics can lead to a yeast infection, but not when there is a sufficient amount of Lactobacillus Plantarum present. They continue to fight bad bacteria while the antibiotics do their work.

Its constant production of good bacteria overpowers the bad bacteria, helping to prevent and cure yeast infections. Examples of foods rich in Lactobacillus Plantarum include sauerkraut, brined olives, and some cheeses, especially Italian, Swiss and cheddar.
