Natural Oils May Help for Stretch Marks

Thursday, November 19, 2009

Natural oils may help to reduce stretch marks. It is advised to use the oils in a low concentration (1 percent or less) to ensure the baby is safe. It is also advised not to start using them until 12 weeks into the pregnancy when nausea has passed and when stretch marks may begin to occur.

You should use a vegetable oil such as almond oil or avocado oil, since they are high in the most important vitamins as well as essential fatty acids. These oils are also ideal because they are easily absorbed. The best essential oils to use are neroli (orange blossom) and mandarin and both have a history of being used for stretch marks. If you think you are more likely to develop stretch marks due to family history, then you should use rosehip seed oil. You should add 50 drops of essential oil to 100ml of vegetable oil to give you the right concentration. To apply the mixture, massage it in once a day in a clockwise direction.

Unfortunately, this method may not work for everyone. There are some all natural stretch mark prevention products available in stores or online that are highly effective even when natural oils alone don't work. It may be worth having a look at these if you want to be absolutely sure you aren't left with those unsightly stretch marks.
