Warning Signs of Prostate Cancer

Tuesday, September 08, 2009

While prostate cancer is often discovered only after it has spread, there are some early warning signs to look out for. The sooner it gets treated, the better the outcome, so it is important to be aware of the following warning signs.

-Difficulty urinating: If you feel like you have to go and nothing comes out, your urine stops in midstream, you have to pee in the middle of the night, or you feel like you have to go a lot more often , then this could be a warning sign.

-Discomfort while urinating: If you feel any pain while urinating, this is another warning sign.

-Blood in the urine: If you see any blood in your urine, consult a doctor immediately.

-Blood in the semen: See a doctor if you detect any blood in your semen.

-Erectile dysfunction: If you are having difficulty getting it up or keeping it up, this is another warning sign.

-Constipation and other intestinal problems: If you are constipated, have gas or other intestinal issues, and they won't respond to changes in your diet, then consult a doctor.

-Chronic pain in the lower back, upper thigh and hips: This is another early warning sign of prostate cancer.

-Leaking and dribbling of urine: Leaking on the way to the bathroom, or waiting longer for the dribbling to end while peeing are also warning signs.

If you are in a high risk group, or over the age of 50, you should be very attentive and watch for any of these warning signs. Early detection could mean the difference between life and death.
